Hey Resistor,
Your 1500 is my old car. :D
I owned 'OLSKOOL' my brother Clayton aka MR RX3 built it.
How is the old girl?

Sorry for not emailing you back, when I changed my laptop months ago I lost your email address.

I also used the car for my mates wedding - the people loved it.

I am just in the process of tastefully modifying my brothers old 1800.
When it is finished I will throw some pics up of that.

Jordan.

Yo Jordan !

The 1500 is still kickin along well man. Still in desperate need of an extra 200hp though :)
I havent done a hell of a lot to it since i bought it off Mike, just fitted a new Head unit, new Momo wheel, and Sexy Oldschool Smiths Tacho.

The engine conversion is happening soon, just waiting on the braided lines for the turbo & oil cooler.
Heres a few pics of the engine. spent a fair bit of time making it look pretty. i recon it'll suit the car nicely.

the engine is bog stock, just the usual mods to make it fit. 6 port front cover, early OMP, new 13B sump. High mount turbo manifold, thats pretty much it.
Ill post up some more pics once its in

Have you had the above engine in the engine bay of a 1500/1800?
It may be the angles of the photos but Im thinking you may need to perform major surgery if your not goin to build a custom sump.

In addition, I dont reckon that exhaust manifold will fit without modding your standard inner guards/chassis rails.

I could be wrong, but heres hoping Im saving you some time and effort before you get to much further making it look mint.

Id check it will work first :)

Yeah man, i hear ya, the manifold was made for an early RX conversion. I picked it up cheap though, so if it works, bonus!
The sump should be fine, its a brand new US 13B N/A item (i think) very similar to the RX4, cept smoother edges, so i recon it'll have more room to shuffle around over the crossmember.
IM sure we'll encounter our fair share of headaches along the way!
im sure it will work out :)

Hey mate the car is going to be all time when it's finished I can't wait to
start getting a bit more serious with mine biggest problem I heard of with the
1500 is the size of the trans tunnel. What box have you got going in?
Hey at least it has been done before buzzzn managed to get one in there so
it can definitely be done. Good luck with the build.

Managed to fit an S4 turbo box in my wags with a bit "massaging" so it is possible without chopping anything

Thanks mate,
Series 5 box going in, I might be lucky enough not to have to cut it out like Beef, if not, tunnel mods are
relatively easy anyway.

Strange that it's on VW wide 5 Sprintstars, same as the 1500/1800 below on wide 5 BRM's...an odd stud pattern change, but both wheels actually really suit!
