:P :P :P ner ner a ner ner - youre wrong

my car had a vinyl roof fitted factory - i also heard it was an option too when the roofs got dented from people walking across then when the cars were on the boat/being shipped etc new.

from what i was told by the original UK owner - it was a comon option for the UK spec cars - i have only ever seen one other in NZ though.

pic below - vinyl roof long gone but the lower bracket is still there

I had an RX3 sedan , Red with a black vinyl roof . I removed it before I sold it back in 88 , it was undamaged under the vinyl. When I rehook up my scanner I will see if I have any pics.

Were there any other reasons for the vinyl ? Or was it a style thing ?

I ask this because when i was a little boy back in the 70's i saw a lot off thse cars.I am from the caribean islands and there we use to have the US spec rx-3 coupes. They came as i remember is 2 types off vinyl top.I will put a picture i have from the only US spec car i have ever found on internet.
Type 1; they got a half cut vinyl top, like some rx-2 cars from the USA have.
Type 2: they have a full roof vinyl and on the side bars they came with a type off badge insert in the vinyl.I am not sure how the badge looks like.Iff someone have pictures, put them here.

I would like to here from dmrh or rotary lover before you say they did come out with them. They are usualy a dealer fited thing, like sun visors, mudflaps, headlight gaurds and protector moulds. If they were a factory thing, then the quater panels would have holes for the moulds in them, and that mould will have a part number. I am yet to see an old stock quater panel with the holes there or old photos from mazda of rx3 coupes with the vinyl in place.

Seen it on an 818 here in England. Not sure if factory fitted, but does it really matter?

yes it does, we need proof before we can beleive anything, and that goes for everything, not just cars.

Yes im cool with that :D but mazgal is saying her car left the mazda factory with it on, which i think isnt true, until i see some proof, like a part number for the moulds and the vinyl, or another rx3 coupe with at least the holes in the quater panels for the moulds. Im sure there has to be others , if it were a factory fitment. Mazda didnt sell many one of a kind models.
