Just seein if any1 has had experiences with Unigroup Engineering at Girraween? In particular their tuning of microtech, but anything in general would be good. I've done a search, but didnt find much.
Please post or pm me

Cheers,
Dan

Unigroup does great job in dyno tuning, whether it is EMS, Microtech, Power FC etc.
They have tuned my car before and I have recommend someone from here, and he was very happy with their service and price.
Give them a buzz and find out for yourself.
They open from 6.30pm till pretty late

they always ask for your opinion if they know you can get stuff done cheaper else where and come back for a dyno tune. he explaining things very carefully and make sure that you understand how things works etc.
his EMS tuning on my mr2 was the most reliable and very spot on.

every other forum i am a part of, are not allowed to bag workshops... so i am not sure if that would be wise?
But to put it nicely, they did not end up finishing my tune and i went elsewhere.
That elsewhere i will gladly say is hitman/Matt,wich i have no problems with.

Your not meant to bag workshops. You just meant to say your experience exactly as it happened. Some people seem to get away with bagging workshops without reason but dosnt mean we should do the same.

I have had dealings with Uni Group since they opened there doors. I will not trust my car to any other workshop for tuning or the likes. I cannot begian to list the hours the guys have spent helpping me out over the years.

I have already been down with my new rotor project and they are waiting for me to get it ready to punch up some numbers again.

Over the years I have been to many diffrent workshops and spent countless dollars at them trying to get my rotors running right. Since dealing with uni group I WILL never goto another shop.

Word is they will have the doors open full time soon....

mazman: I am sure there is a reason for which they didnt finish your tune. Infact I will ask the guys myself what hapened just so there isnt one side to a storey here.

Cheers,
Rob.

i know why they didnt finish the tune.. so i dont need that answered.
The problem i was having is, they said the car was pinging at something like 3psi(give or take 1psi as its been a while), at around 3000-3500rpm.
Im sure he has that map stored somewhere to show you.
To me that is a laugh, as with the same settings/mods, hitman had no trouble tuning it to 17psi.(and even with the old map i came with to unigroup, it never pinged at the old 12psi settings).
They also took for ages to even get to the 3-3.5K rpm range, they just didnt seem profesional and looked like they didnt know what they were doing( they tried sorting it out to no avail.), im sure they will tell you something different that you want to hear.
Why would i give my negative feedback? just for some laughs? i dont think so.I care too much about my car to let some1 tinker with it and not know what they are doing.
Anyway, that is my opinion, but if your happy with them, thats great, thats all what people want, to be happy with the service and job that they're tuners do.

I'm late to the party here, but i figure you need to be thanks for making that post civil, and being mature about everything (in public view, anyway)

Just wanted to put my experience down (not to attack mazman btw)

Took my 32 gtst there.
Was only a simple regapping of the sparkies to get my misfire go away, but the older bloke there knew his shit. I took him for a spin in it, he told me things that were wrong, then when I got a full inspection done by a separate shop everything he said was right.
Only took it to a separate shop to get my pink slip and a service done by my general mechanic.. he did a complete inspection out of curiosity rofl.

I know what Mazman means about their professionalism... My money went to the guys back pocket, and the change came from his wallet. There was no clean office with a 24/7 receptionist.. just a desk and a shit tonne of cars. I went in a group, and we just walked into the shop and started talking to people.

I'll say it felt a lot like a social hang out, and not a business, but that's what I personally like so I was cool with that.

Whilst I'm not trying to undermine the opinion of Mazman, the club president of SAU:NSW was getting them to replace his clutch or something... so they may have picked up a bit from when Mazman has his negative experience.

My mate bought a SR20 180SX with Apexi FC a few months ago now.

With the car, he was given a Dyno Sheet from Unigroup saying that the car had 220kw atw.

The car went hard when it went properly, but most of the time you'd get into it & it would cough, spit & fart through the entire rev range... The 1st time my mate did it, i thought it was just redlining in 2nd as he spun down the street, but no, it was misfiring or something.
The power curve on the Dyno sheet also looked messy.

He booked the car in at J.E.M... (They usually refuse to work on rotaries, so no use for us  ).
They said the shitty looking Power curve didn't mean anything, but they'd see what they could do.
He was supposed to have it Tuned & ready to be picked up in 2 days, 3 weeks later it was finally done.
BUT... He got the car back with 255kw at the wheels!!!!

Except for the ridiculous wait time, he has nothing but good things to say about J.E.M & no goods things to say about Unigroup.

Did your mate take it back to Yavuz and give him an attempt to fix it?

I worked for another prominent GTR workshop in Sydney for 4.5 years and i would not take our car to anyone else but Unigroup now.

Nope, as far as he was concerned, for the way the car was & all the shit that had been done dodgey on it, he wanted nothing to do with them.

In their Defence, we don't know what the previous owner had done since it had been to Unigroup, or how long it had been since that tune.

The only thing he knows is:
Previous tune - Unigroup... 220kw Ran like shit.
Current tune - JEM... 255kw Can't get enough of it & is madly in love with it.

JEM, a bunch of cunts that refuse to work on rotaries.

Obvisouly i dont know either but i reckon its pretty rich of your mate to blame Unigroup for the problems when he doesnt know what was done to it after the tune.... and just as bad on yourself for posting this up in here when you dont know either.

First hand information is the idea of these trader threads, and unless you know for a fact it came off the dyno that way i dont think it was fair of you to bag them out
