Bonanza is a Mazda or rotary powered vehicle car cruise from Mulgrave to Healesville. It includes both a Freeway cruising section and then a twists and turns section in the hills. Total of about 230km and 5.5hrs.
Welcome and enjoy!
Before your arrival at the starting point:
If needing to get to a Mcdonalds for breakfast or having to fill up with fuel at a BP, both can be found just up the road on the corners of the Springvale rd and Wellington rd intersection. A car wash is also located at the BP.
9:00am-9:45am Arrival at the stating point of our cruise.
Address, 355 Wellington road Mulgrave “Monash Gardens Mulgrave, Mulgrave Community Center.” Access Car Park via Wellington Rd Mel ref map 80 C1. Seems you can turn into traveling either way on Wellington. (Bus stop out the front) We need to be as quiet as we can entering the car park as it is at the rear of a nursing home (first on the left). Keep right and drive past the building down to the car park at the back, this is the meeting point. Hang out, chat, pic’s etc.
9:45am-9:50am Quick brief in car park.
9:55am Pre 10:00am departure warning horn.

http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&sour ... 31842&z=1010:00am Start Bonanza 2011!!!! Exit car park to the left onto Wellington Rd.
(I chose this as the departure as there are no lights to break the group up) Head up Wellington rd, left lane ends and down to two lanes, KEEP LEFT!
Travel 1km Turn LEFT onto Monash Freeway “Warragul, Dandenong” (enjoy this
Corner) this is just after the bridge.
Travel 10km Freeway divides, stay RIGHT.
Enjoy a nice highway cruise all together. A good warm up, make sure your cars is running ok.
Travel 51km Exit LEFT into BP service center. Those who need fuel go ahead
(LAST FUEL FOR ABOUT 130KM “SHELL”, OR ABOUT 170KM MOBIL OR SHELL. I THINK NO BP’S SORRY), those who do not require fuel STAY LEFT, head around past the diesel bowser and we will park together in the truck parking area, there is more room for us there.
Possibly the worlds largest apple cakes are available here and other food. (Last toilet stop for about 2hours)
11:10am Pre departure warning horn. The next section of our cruise is where it
starts to get twisty and winding. What I would like is for the guys who are faster through the corners to line up 1st at the front. We will line up in two lines over to the left of the truck parking area near the exit. Faster cars at the front, slower cars and cruisers at the rear. This is not to stage a race, but to try to give a clear run for those who enjoy there corners with a bit of speed and keep us slower guys out of their way.
I want all cars to stay as straight (damage wise) as they arrived. No need to prove anything to anyone just enjoy yourselves and know your limits.
NOTE TO LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVERS: BRAKE AND WASH OFF YOUR SPEED “BEFORE” ENTERING A CORNER (STEERING STILL STRAIGHT), DO NOT BRAKE MID CORNER OR YOU MAY WELL REGRET IT. SLOWER IS SAFER.
11:20am To re-join the freeway you go via the side road. Exit service center and
turn RIGHT onto side road. Few meters up and then turn LEFT onto Freeway 110km/h zone. Now on Mel map no. 612 T6

Sorry not enough room for all the cars to park here. Max about 60 I guess if we were to taking up the whole place including parking on the sides of the car parks etc. There will be other public too. Kids etc.
After a bit of a look/toilet stop, leave the summit and drive 3km back down the mountain, down the road you have just come up. You would have past a large car park area on your right on your way to the summit. It looked like the Summer Nats burn out pad but MUCH larger. We will stop here for lunch, break, photos and regroup.
Note fast boys: It will have been about 100km now since we left the BP and the group will no doubt have spread out quite a bit. You will now have to be patient and wait for all the rest of us at the “Burnout pad” car park. Toilets are here too, just across the road.
3km Turn LEFT (going down the hill) into large “Burnout pad” car park.
It will now be about 1:30pm. We will stop here for packed lunch if you wish note: no BBQ’s (or hold out for Healesville bakery), break, photos and regroup. TOILETS HERE (JUST ACROSS THE ROAD).
There are tables and chairs in the covered area but BBQ’s no longer in use. Natural drinking water here also. (so far about 172km and 3.5hrs)
This car park is a Huge rectangle. Maybe as we did last year, we could line up all the cars in large semi circle across car park for a panoramic picture.
1:55pm Warning horn for 2pm departure.
2:00pm Turn LEFT out of “Burn out” car park. Back down the mountain “take
Care!” (cold tyre’s and brakes).

You have arrived at the final destination!!! Chill out, have a chat and something to eat, drink or have a late lunch.
This is the official end of the cruise. After everyone chilling, eating and chatting it will be about 4pm. Having driven 230km over about 5.5hours.
