thats a very nice piece of equipmenti take it you could fit this to any mazda? even if its a s1 with a nikki or a webber just by adding a tps?
i take it you could fit this to any mazda? even if its a s1 with a nikki or a webber just by adding a tps?
i gather you need a s4 or higher omp though?
and if s4 or higher omp's are electric motor driven, cant you place them anywhere & make an adaptor similar to the concept of rotary aviations idea of a remote resevoir?
s1 -3 rx7 and FC s4 rx7 installs usually have mechanical OMP timing cover installs
EOMP is not so practical
the s5 unit is top,, and its a 3 bolt and much bulky footprint hat requires welding up and machining of earlier timing covers to suit
-- that would also involve the require to mod any water pump inlet
( or mods to fit the s5 water pump housing ) if s5 or higher omp's are electric motor driven, cant you place them anywhere & make an adaptor similar to the concept of rotary aviations idea of a remote resevoir?
absolutely, this would prove an interesting way around the timing cover mod issues for early timing covershttp://www.rotaryaviation.com/oil_injec ... aptors.htmi gather you need a s4 or higher omp though?
this controller will run the s5 FC and FD densos
also the later style FD and early rx8 mikuni unit as well
this is actually a convertible TPS with a different cam mech where the narrow range is inside,, and full range outside
to make things tricky,, there is actually three versions of TPS arrangements across the FC models
- s4 with single narrow range TPS
orange = 5V
normal, common aussie s5 with dual TPS
-- where the full range unit is inside,, and the narrow one is outside
orange = 5V
black/red = earth
green/red = signal
--full range--( IIRC )
blue = earth
red = 5v
note the unit supplies its own 5V bus out if required
the EOMP control unit is primarily programmed to run from a TPS and has calibration and offset trim functions for easy user setup
or will run from other 5 V load signal
- ECU 5V analog auxiliary output
potentially some MAF sensors
potential use scenarios for this unit are considerable -
some installs will have a spare full range TPS and will be able to take toll of that
some will have unused map sensor that may prove a better option for them
some will demand the s5 and onwards timing covers to be retained
,, and will allow them to use a cheaper ECU with only analog 5V aux out to run the EOMP controller
- or allow the inbuilt stepper outs of better ECU's to be used for other functions
some s4 owners will like to retain the stock ECU but install the s5 engine as is,, this makes that a practical reality
there is some scenarios with LPG fuel that will demand a functional EOMP
there is others with rx8 and the need for FBW throttle control
and will allow you to run the EOMP while allowing the good ECU's stepper-outs for the throttle
-- or even think of using the EOMP controller ( or 2 ) for that job with cheaper ECU's
there is a scenario where stock early model rx8 owners will be thinking seriously about upping their EOMP rate
- and we are looking at ways of working with these people to defeat the engine check light
( they do have the option to run a second dummy EOMP unit still plugged in but hidden to dumb the ECU from throwing the code )
if your clever , potentially rx8 FBW,, 1JZ traction butterfly
and with some imagination to the setup the list would be endless
( for custom jobs we are willing to evolve the concept software with need if you contact us )
