I'm in the process of ordering a new rebuild kit for my 13b I've settled on a Atkins
Kit just wondering if I should go with the Atkins apex seals or upgrade to the genuine
Mazda items. The engine is a rx4 13b extend port N/A
Anyone used Atkins apex seals before?

Built two bridge port turbo Series 5 engines with 2mm -2 piece Atkins steel seals (not cyro treated). Both engines running fine, one up to 20psi/t78(road tune), the other running around 15psi/T04- 290rwkw, no probs so far.
Until we pull an engine down unable to tell how they will go wearing the housings, but so far so good.

I have a set of the Atkins cryo treated 2mm seals and the Atkins corner seals for the next build, seemed like most people I have spoken too have mostly good experiences with them. Although have heard some people critise the corner seals but I'm prepared to try them.
Im using their apex seal springs too.

just make sure the premix is spot on and they will last a long time especially in N/A engines , they are a soft apex seal which is a good thing but premix is key with the Atkins seals I have been using them for about 12 years and tore down 3 engines and there was no abnormal wear on the housings , my current engine is at 38.000 miles and is perfect but again its a 13b street port.

Do these bend when they fail or break like mazda seals?

i have used them a couple of times now.
i did use orig wire corner seal springs for one build due to machined unnitrated 3b plates used.
12a bp and 13b bp.
i liked the fact that their water retention kit had front and rear main seals and all seals came in labeled packets so i knew exactly what orings go where as it was my first build.
i will use them again.
